The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced that the Medicare Part B annual deductible for 2026 is $285, an increase from $257 in 2025.

The Part B deductible is the amount you must pay out-of-pocket each year before Medicare begins paying its share for many covered medical services.

What Is the Medicare Part B Deductible?

Before Medicare starts paying its portion of covered services, you are generally responsible for paying the annual Part B deductible.

Once the deductible has been met, Medicare typically pays 80% of approved Part B services, while you are responsible for the remaining 20% unless you have additional coverage.

Services Subject to the Part B Deductible

The deductible may apply to services such as:

• Doctor and specialist visits

• Outpatient procedures

• Laboratory services

• Diagnostic testing

• Durable medical equipment

• Physical therapy and other outpatient treatments

Why Did the Deductible Increase?
